The rulebook
How every game works
Six ways to play the NFL season. Pick a game to jump to its rules — how to play, how scoring works, and what the commissioner gets to set.
Survivor Pool
Lose once and it's been nice knowing you.
Pick one team to win each week. Get it wrong and you're out. Last player standing wins.
How to play
- 1.Each week, pick exactly one team to win its game outright — the spread doesn't matter.
- 2.Win and you survive to next week. Lose and you're eliminated.
- 3.You can't pick the same team twice all season, so plan which favorites to spend when.
- 4.The last player left standing takes the pool.
- Elimination
- One strike and you're out. Any loss, tie, or missed week eliminates you immediately — there are no extra lives. Only a commissioner buyback can bring an eliminated player back.
- Ties
- A tied game counts as a loss — your team has to win outright to survive.
- Team reuse
- Each NFL team can be used only once all season. Commissioners may enable team reuse when creating a pool.
- Deadlines & hidden picks
- Each pick locks at that game's kickoff, and your pick stays hidden from the other players until it locks.
- Starting week
- Picks begin on the pool's starting week (any week from 1 to 18). Week 1 pools can start on the Sunday slate instead, skipping the Wednesday and Thursday openers so the commissioner can keep adding players through the opening games.
- Everyone out at once
- If everyone still alive loses in the same week, the remaining players split the pot — unless the commissioner's house rules say otherwise.
Pick'em
Every game, every week — Sundays with consequences.
Pick every NFL game, every week. Most correct picks wins.
How to play
- 1.Each week, pick a side in every game.
- 2.Every correct pick is worth 1 point; standings track both the week and the season.
- 3.Games you don't pick score 0, so don't leave any blank.
- Format
- Format is a commissioner setting: against the spread (pick the side that beats the number) or straight up (just pick the winner). Against the spread by default.
- Pushes
- A push — a result landing exactly on the spread — scores 0 for everyone who picked that game (in a straight-up pool, a tied final is the push). No half-points.
- Deadlines
- Each pick locks at that game's kickoff; games you don't pick score 0.
- Tiebreaker
- Optional tiebreaker (recommended for 11+ players): everyone also guesses the total points in the Monday night game, and tied players are ranked by who came closest.
- Starting week
- Picks begin on the pool's starting week (any week from 1 to 18). Week 1 pools can start on the Sunday slate instead, skipping the Wednesday and Thursday openers so the commissioner can keep adding players through the opening games.
Wins Pool
Draft in September. Talk trash till January.
Draft NFL teams. Every real-game win by your teams scores a point. Most wins takes the pool.
How to play
- 1.Before the season, players draft NFL teams in a snake draft — the pick order reverses each round.
- 2.Every regular-season win by one of your teams is worth 1 point.
- 3.Most total wins after Week 18 wins the pool.
- Roster & draft
- The pool holds 2 to 10 players. Each player drafts 4 teams in a snake draft; in 9- or 10-player pools each drafts 3, so all 32 NFL teams go around without repeats.
- Ties
- A tied NFL game counts for nothing — only wins are scored, one point each. Ties and losses both add zero.
- Scope
- Regular season only: every win in Weeks 1 to 18 counts, playoff games do not. No trades or waiver pickups after the draft.
Win Totals
Bold takes in August. Receipts in January.
Before Week 1, call over or under on every team's season win total. Tag your locks. Wait 18 weeks to find out who was right.
How to play
- 1.You see all 32 teams with a win-total line, preloaded from Vegas and editable by the commissioner until the deadline.
- 2.Pick over or under on every team, and tag your most confident picks as locks.
- 3.Most points after Week 18 wins.
- Scoring & locks
- Tag your most confident picks as locks — the commissioner sets how many (0 disables locks). A correct pick is worth 1 point; a correct lock is worth 2.
- Pushes
- Half-win lines can't push. If the commissioner sets a whole-number line and the team lands exactly on it, that pick scores 0 for everyone.
- Deadline
- Picks lock at the deadline — the Week 1 opener by default, though the commissioner can move it — and can't be changed after.
- Tiebreaker
- Everyone predicts the exact win count for a commissioner-designated team; closest wins.
- Standings
- The leaderboard updates through the season as results come in; each pick shows as clinched, alive, or dead.
Guess the Lines
See the matchup, guess the line, win the glory.
We show the matchup with no spread. You call the line. Closest to Vegas wins.
How to play
- 1.Each week you see every matchup with the spread hidden.
- 2.For each game, submit the spread you think Vegas has set.
- 3.Your guesses lock Monday at 11:59 PM ET unless your commissioner extends that week’s deadline, up to the first kickoff.
- Scoring
- Closest to Vegas wins. Each guess is scored by how far it lands from that game's closing line at kickoff, and your week's score is your average miss across your guesses. Lowest average miss wins the week; season standings rank by weeks won, then lowest overall average miss.
- Tiebreaker
- If players tie on average miss, whoever locked their card in first takes it.
- Honor system
- You're scored against the line, not the game result — and nothing stops you from looking the lines up. Don't. That's the whole game.
- Deadline
- Guesses lock Monday at 11:59 PM ET by default. Commissioners can extend a week’s deadline up to its first kickoff; the picks page shows the current deadline.
Loser Pool
Winning is for losers.
Survivor, reversed. Pick one team to lose each week. If your team wins, you're out.
How to play
- 1.Each week, pick exactly one team to lose its game outright.
- 2.If your team loses, you survive. If they win, you're eliminated.
- 3.You can't pick the same team twice all season.
- 4.The last player left standing takes the pool.
- Elimination
- One strike and you're out. Any loss, tie, or missed week eliminates you immediately — there are no extra lives. Only a commissioner buyback can bring an eliminated player back.
- Ties
- A tie eliminates you by default — your team must lose outright. The commissioner can turn on a setting that lets ties count as survival.
Every game
Rules that hold no matter which game you're playing.
- Automatic deadlines
- All deadlines are enforced automatically — late picks are never accepted.
- Regular season
- Games run the NFL regular season, Weeks 1 to 18, unless the pool's rules say otherwise.
- Starting week & joining
- Weekly games can start on any week from 1 to 18, and you can join until the starting week's first kickoff. Week 1 pools can start on the Sunday slate instead, skipping the Wednesday and Thursday openers so the commissioner can keep adding players through the opening games.
- Settings are visible upfront
- The commissioner's settings are visible to every player before they join.
